Keep Your Friends Close!

Another component to a well-balanced life includes Friends! No, not the TV show, but actual, real-life, human friends!

These are the people you can have over to your home anytime; they don’t care if there is clutter on the floor or dirty dishes in the sink. They are just there to pour into you, to listen to you and have you listen to them when they need to talk.

The Bible says in Proverbs 18:24 that “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly.” What ways are you working to be a friend to those around you?

We live in a very busy area – just outside our nation’s capital! To say that life is fast-paced and hectic is an understatement. But yet, I wonder what friendships we miss out on because we are hurrying to work, to the daycare, to the gym, to school, to a child’s sports practice, etc. While there is nothing wrong with any of those things inherently, what if we took some time to notice our child’s daycare worker or the teacher at their school?

Maybe there is a person in a similar stage of life at your job and you could benefit from coming alongside each other and sharing similar struggles and victories? Or maybe there is an older couple at your church and you and your spouse could learn from their wisdom, if you’d just take a few minutes to get to know them?

And if you’re a SAHM, it doesn’t exclude you from the busyness. Taking care of little ones all day can be a very lonely, exhausting experience! Why don’t you find another mom who would love a friend? You can chat on the phone during naptimes, or even text during the day between dirty diapers and bottle refills. 🙂 I guarantee you won’t have to look long to find a mom who could use some encouragement! And I bet if you take some time to invest in her, you’ll be blessed too!

So, what actions will you take today to reach out to someone? If you really don’t know anyone, reach out to me! I’d love to get to know you and encourage you on this journey of life.
